How to type faster
Most typists can add 10 to 20 WPM in a few months. These are the changes that matter most.
- Get accuracy above 96% first. Every mistake costs a Backspace and a pause. Fixing mistakes is the biggest hidden cost for most typists.
- Practise your slow letter pairs. Two or three pairs often cost more than everything else. The results page shows yours.
- Stop looking at the keyboard. Touch typing feels slower for a week or two, then overtakes.
- Keep a steady rhythm. Even speed beats bursts and stops.
- Start words without hesitating. Read one word ahead while you type the current one.
- Practise a little every day. Ten minutes daily beats an hour once a week.
- Measure, then drill. Take a test, practise the weak spots it found, test again.
