WPM and KDPH explained
One word is five key depressions. So WPM × 5 × 60 = key depressions per hour.
Typing tests for jobs often count key depressions, the number of keys pressed in the text you produce, instead of words, because words vary in length. 10,500 key depressions per hour is 35 WPM; 8,000 is about 27 WPM.
Gross speed counts everything you typed. Net speed subtracts mistakes: in exam scoring each wrong, missing or extra word counts as one mistake and costs one word.
Questions
Is KDPH the same as keystrokes per hour?
Close: it counts the characters in your typed text, not every key you pressed while correcting.
